Our history
The PMC Studio is built on a rich heritage of PMC expertise. We are immensely proud to be the education partner for UK & Europe, working closely with the manufacturer of PMC, Mitsubishi Materials Trading Corporation.
Founded in 2003 by Helen Forder as a company dedicated to all things precious metal clay (PMC) from testing, tools & supplies to training, we are still as excited by PMC as we were all those years ago!
In 2020, Helen Forder took a step back from the day to day operations of the PMC Studio and handed the reins over to Senior Instructors Julie Holt and Helen Drye. Going forward the key focus of The PMC Studio is on our passion and key strengths, helping our customers achieve more with PMC through the delivery of high-quality training and support. As part of this, we have taken our internationally renowned PMC Certification Programme online and were delighted to have over 30 students on our pilot course, learning with us from all over the globe. With our virtual classroom approach, they had an amazing time, learning loads, and producing fabulous work – we are immensely proud of what our students have achieved and excited about the possibilities of this new format.
In addition, we are delighted to be working with Mitsubishi Materials Trading Corporation, and Camp PMC in the USA to extend our training offer. On 1st January 2021, the Camp PMC programme will launch in the UK, with deployments across Europe to follow. This is an exciting development as for the first time in the history of PMC there will be one global education programme, providing a consistent approach to PMC training, led by the manufacturer. A key benefit is that it will enable artisans to explore the possibilities of PMC and work towards mastery, whilst instructors will have the opportunity to become certified PMC Instructors.
