Using moulding compound

Siligum Moulding Compound

Siligum moulding compound is easy to mix, self-curing and gives a smooth finish. As it sets in minutes it is ideal for creating moulds from natural items such as shells, seed pods, old buttons or any other copyright free items. Even pasta shapes make quick and interesting moulded shapes.

This two part moulding compound remains flexible when set and requires no release agent such as Badger Balm or olive oil when used with PMC or Creative Metal Clay.

How to make a mould

Step 1

Take an equal amount of the blue and white moulding compound. Rapidly knead the two colours together until they become a uniform, pale blue colour.

Step 2

Roll into a ball. Place the compound on a piece of Teflon and flatten slightly. Push the object you wish to create a mould of into the compound. Neaten the edges by pushing the compound up around the sides of the object. (Do not cover it completely as it will be difficult to get it out.)

Step 3

Allow the moulding compound to set for about 10 minutes. Test the mould has set by pressing your fingernail into the side of the mould. If set, it should not leave a mark.

Step 4

Remove the object by pushing it out of the mould. Your mould is now ready to use.
